Bio-data of Shri Lakshmi Chand, IAS (Retd)- Member Secretary 

Shri Lakshmi Chand was born on 12.07.1945 in village Bhondsi, District Gurgaon (Haryana). He did his M.A. (Eco) from Punjab University and LLB from Delhi University. He joined I.A.S. in 1969 in UP cadre. He served both the Union Government and the state Government. During his 36 years of services, he hold a variety of assignments both at the Policy formulation level and at the implementation level. While in the State in addition to the usual assignments of SDM/DM/DIV Commissioner, he worked on the posts of Secretary/Principal Tourism, Sugar Industry, CMD, UPSRTC and Chairman, Noida, Greater Noida, UPSIDC, UPFC, UP Nirman Nigam, UP Bridge Corporation, UP Textile Corporation etc. While at the center, he worked as Dy. Director (Admin) AIIMS, and Joint Secretary, Ministry of water Resources, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal & CMD, Coal India Ltd. Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy & promotion. He retired as Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region on 31.07.2005. He has widely traveled both in India and abroad.     

He joined the National Commission for Denotified, Nomadic & Semi-Nomadic Tribes as Member Secretary on 06.02.2006.
